Chesapeake Isle runs on neighbors. There’s no management company, just volunteers who plan the parties, mow the beach, pull the moorings and welcome new families.
Groups you can join
Ladies’ Monthly Luncheon. Lunch at a different local restaurant each month, open to any interested women in the community. From January 2027 it moves to the second Wednesday of the month. A reminder goes out by email each month. Organized by Michelle Hendrix.
Men’s Weekly Golf. A seasonal weekly round with neighbors. Organized by Mike Beiter.
Extend-A-Hand. Neighbors supporting neighbors through life’s big moments. Let Extend-A-Hand know about a birth, a loss, an illness or a neighbor who could use a hand, and they’ll send congratulations or condolences or organize help. Coordinated by Karen Dryden.
Community traditions
Throughout the year, CICA members gather for the Annual Sock Burning and Boat Blessing, the Progressive Dinner, the Easter Egg Hunt, Isle Palooza, the Fourth of July celebration, summer socials, the fall Chicken BBQ, the Chili Cook-off, the Halloween party, the holiday Wine & Cheese, the holiday decorating contest and the holiday bonfire. Dates are on the Events calendar, and details are in each newsletter. Most events are for CICA members. See CICA membership.
Ways to help
Every event and work day depends on volunteers, and many hands make it light work. You can:
- Join a clean-up day. Spring and fall clean-ups keep the beach, harbor and common areas in shape. The 2026 spring clean-up drew about 30 volunteers.
- Help on mooring days. Volunteers set moorings in spring and pull them in fall. Breakfast and lunch are on CICA.
- Lend a hand at an event. Set up, run a game, serve food or clean up at the Fourth of July and other gatherings.
- Host or lead an event. Some events need a new organizer or a host home. The Progressive Dinner, for example, needs neighbors to open their homes.
- Join a committee. From the harbor to the newsletter, see what each committee does on the Committees page.
- Sponsor or donate to the Fourth of July auction.
You can also follow along at the monthly Board meeting, held on Zoom the third Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm.
