CICA membership

Membership is voluntary and costs $25 a year. It opens the harbor, the pavilion and member events.

Membership and the maintenance fee are different

Every lot owner must pay the yearly Community Maintenance fee, which keeps up the roads, beach, harbor and other shared property. CICA membership is separate and voluntary. It’s what pays for community events, the newsletter and the community AED, and it’s how neighbors get involved in running the Isle.

What membership gives you

  • Social events for your whole family: children’s parties, the holiday wine and cheese, and other CICA-sponsored gatherings
  • Pavilion reservations ($50 per event)
  • Mooring services and dinghy and kayak rack storage (each has its own fee)
  • A vote on the membership budget, Board elections, bylaw changes and major changes to community property, one vote per household
  • The chance to serve on the Board of Directors

The community AED is available to everyone, member or not.

Who can join

  • Property owners. One family membership per owner, however many lots you own.
  • Renters with a lease in Chesapeake Isle can join as non-voting social members. They get events, the pavilion, moorings and racks, but not a vote.

You can join only if your Community Maintenance fees are paid in full.

How to join or renew

Membership runs with the year. Each fall the annual invoice includes a line for CICA membership, $25 per family. Mark it and include it with your payment. Dues are due within 45 days of the invoice. After that, member privileges pause until you pay.

If you’d also like a mooring or rack space, those are on the same invoice and need the member forms in the residents area.

New to the Isle? Membership doesn’t pass to you from the seller. New owners can join after settlement, and renters once they’ve moved in. Contact us to join mid-year.

Good to know

  • Membership ends when you sell your property or your lease ends. Dues aren’t refunded.
  • The Board can suspend a member’s privileges for six months for breaking community rules, after giving the member a chance to explain.
  • Members approve the membership budget at the Annual Meeting, held the third Sunday in May.

The full rules are in the Bylaws, Article 2.
