New residents

Welcome to Chesapeake Isle! Our Welcome Committee will visit with the Welcome Guidebook, decals and the community directory. This page covers what to do in your first weeks.

Your welcome visit

Polly Pyle-Carter and Kim Vindler of the Community Affairs Committee meet every new household. They bring the Welcome Guidebook and CICA decals for your cars and boats, and they’re happy to answer your questions about the Isle. If you’ve moved in and haven’t had a visit yet, let us know and we’ll set one up.

Renting out your home? When your tenants change, let us know so we can welcome them and give them a copy of the guidebook too.

Your first-week checklist

  1. Get your decals. Every car and boat trailer at the beach or harbor needs a CICA decal, and guests need a guest pass. See Decals & guest passes.
  2. Join the directory. Send us your names, address, phone and email. The directory is private. It goes only to community members, by email twice a year with the newsletter, and it can’t be used for business solicitation. It’s also how we reach everyone in an emergency.
  3. Join CICA. Membership is voluntary, $25 a year, and doesn’t transfer with the house, so new owners join on their own. It opens pavilion reservations, mooring services, member events and a vote. See CICA membership.
  4. Read the rules. The Rules & Regulations cover the beach, harbor, roads, pets and trash. Planning a fence, shed or addition? Check Building & changes to your home before you start.
  5. Watch for the annual invoice. It mails each fall with the Community Maintenance fee that every lot owner pays for the roads and shared property. The packet also has your guest passes and the residents-area password. See Dues & annual invoice.
  6. Explore the amenities. See Beach & pavilion and Harbor & boating.

Neighborhood Captains

Each street has a Neighborhood Captain, a volunteer who helps keep the directory up to date. Expect a visit from yours asking for your contact details. Up-to-date information means we can reach everyone quickly during storms and emergencies.

Getting involved

  • Board meetings are the third Tuesday of each month on Zoom, and all owners are welcome. See Board meetings.
  • Newsletters come out each season with news, events and reminders. See Newsletters.
  • Events run all year, from the Harbor Clean-up to the Fourth of July celebration. See the Events calendar.
  • Social groups include the Ladies’ Monthly Luncheon, whose annual brunch at the pavilion welcomes new neighbors, and Men’s Weekly Golf. See Social groups & volunteering.

Good to know

  • CICA plows the roads when snow is over 3 inches. Keep cars, boats and everything else off the roadway.
  • The roads, beach, pavilion and harbor are private, kept up by every owner. Please drive slowly.
